Financial Controller
Administration - Canada (Remote)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to oversee our company’s accounting, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial information, financial planning and financial risk management. This role requires strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and in-depth knowledge of financial regulations. Experience managing multi-company financial operations and intercompany transactions is essential.
Location: Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including the consolidated financial statements.
- Prepare and present financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Manage cash flows
- Work with SVP Finance in performing budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning (FP&A).
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Manage intercompany transactions and ensure proper consolidations of financial statements.
- Oversee corporate tax compliance and planning for both the US and Canada.
- Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements.
- Work with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks to safeguard company assets.
- Manage billing, AP, AR, GL and payroll.
- Lead and mentor the finance team to optimize performance.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with accounting standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA certification is required.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and compliance.
- Experience managing multi-company financials and intercompany transactions.
- Experience in post production film and tv is preferred, but not required.
- Experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A) and consolidations.
- Corporate tax experience, including US and Canada regulations.
- Big 4 public accounting experience is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and standards.
