The CG Supervisor is a key creative leadership role, driving the day-to-day operations of the CG team. Working in close partnership with the VFX Supervisor, the CG Supervisor is responsible for determining the technical approach and creative resources required to achieve the desired look on assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the VFX Supervisor and Head of CG to interpret the creative vision, and determine the technical approach required to achieve the desired look on assigned projects.
- Designs and supervises the creation of CG imagery, ensuring the highest quality standards are achieved.
- Provides technical leadership and guidance to creative teams in all aspects of CG production.
- Collaborates with department managers on dailies, workflow and pipeline strategies.
- Makes recommendations for improvements to processes and methodologies that increase artist efficiency and quality of output.
- Verifies technical solutions proposed by other crew members.
- Stays current with evolving technical and creative trends, making recommendations on new tools and techniques to foster creative excellence.
- Works with the Head of CG and Executive Producer to define recruiting goals that achieve the appropriate balance of qualified artists.
- Promote a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment.
- Act as an ambassador of the studio’s core values and studio culture.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent
- A minimum of six (6) years of live-action visual effects experience in episodic television and feature films
- Strong technical and leadership capabilities
- Experience in leading, mentoring and training creative teams
- The ability to prioritize tasks and assignments
- Excellent command of the technical and artistic aspects of live-action visual effects and CG pipelines
- Experienced and knowledgeable with all aspects of 3D production (modelling, rigging, texturing, look development, CFX, FX, and lighting)
- Expertise in Autodesk Maya and/or SideFX Houdini
- Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team and thrive under the pressure of tight deadlines
- Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada and available to work in Montreal, Quebec.
