Function of the department:
Beast of Mossy Bottom is a Stop Motion feature production. The primary focus of the VFX Department is to ensure that all VFX integrate seamlessly into the stop-motion style of the film.
Main purpose of the role:
The Compositing Supervisor will work closely with and be overseen by the VFX Supervisor. The role will oversee all shots to a high level in terms of compositing before presenting to the VFX Supervisor for review. The Compositing Supervisor is responsible for supervising and mentoring the Compositing Team, including providing creative briefs and giving feedback. With an exceptionally strong background in Nuke and proven experience at a similar level in stop frame feature film or series, this role will ensure the highest level of quality and continuity in the compositing for all shots.
Duties & Responsibilities:

- To fully understand the Directors’ and VFX Supervisor’s vision for the movie.
- Oversee the Compositing Team; providing briefs and giving constructive feedback on shots.
- To provide guidance and mentorship for all members of the Compositing Team.
- Bring all shots to a high level before presenting to the VFX Supervisor on a weekly basis.
- Work closely with production to bid shots and ensure shots are cast to appropriate team members.
- Work with the VFX Producer in monitoring overall project progress and highlighting potential bottlenecks and scheduling issues.
- To work directly on shots when time allows.
- To observe the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience as a Stop Motion Comp Supervisor at Feature or Series level, including experience of supervising a team of artists.
- An exceptionally creative person with expert Nuke skills.
- An excellent understanding of the stop-motion process.
- A sound understanding of the CG process.
- Ability to find innovative and creative solutions in the compositing process, to save time and increase efficiency.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A strong team player with outstanding communication skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to hit deadlines.
- Takes responsibility for work and shows thoroughness and attention to detail. Flexible attitude and the ability to work in a pressurised environment.
- Excellent Shotgrid/Flow knowledge.
