Job Description
The Junior Lighting Artist is responsible for supporting the lighting team in the creation of visually compelling shots. Working under the guidance of more experienced artists and the Lead, they assist with lighting tasks and develop their understanding of lighting workflows and the production pipeline.
Production:
- Apply base lighting setups to shots using existing templates and references.
- Follow lighting directions provided by Leads and Supervisors.Integrate 3D elements while maintaining consistency in light, color, and mood.
- Maintain clean and organized scene files.Implement feedback and corrections quickly and accurately.
- Motivation to learn and grow in a production environment.
Management:
- Communicate effectively with compositing, shading, and confo teams.
- Ask for support when facing technical or creative issues.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of lighting principles and 3D software (e.g., Maya, Houdini, Katana).
- Understanding of rendering concepts and image composition.
- Willingness to learn and take feedback.Team player with attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of Nuke (or another node-based compositing software).
- Basic English skills (spoken and written)
Optional skills:
- Basic understanding of rendering engines (Arnold, Renderman, Redshift, etc.).
- Experience with ShotGrid or equivalent.Basic understanding of color, lighting, and photography principles.
Additional Information
The person in this role will work closely with our Paris studio in a bilingual environment, as well as with international partners, talent, and clients. They will regularly interact with non-French-speaking stakeholders across various productions and strategic communications, in order to present and promote the creative and technical strengths of Mikros Animation on a global scale.
