Eyeline Studios runs over seven stages/volumes including; LED volumes, photogrammetric camera arrays and an LED light dome – all technologies at the forefront of in-camera visual effects (ICVFX) and virtual production.
The Stage Operator, Camera Tracking will provide the focused technical know-how needed to maintain camera tracking and its specific advanced systems running optimally prior to and during productions, while collaborating on ongoing R&D initiatives in this rapidly evolving field.

Key Responsibilities- Setting up, maintaining, and operating all tracking systems that allow cameras to follow virtual and/or real subjects
- Establishing minimum data requirements needed across operators and teams as standard and on individual production requests
- Deploying camera tracking equipment; setup, networking, and calibrations
- Managing and organizing digital assets and reference materials, ensuring proper file storage, version control, and data backup
- Maintain camera inventory and maintenance
- Stage preparation and volume preparations for internal and external productions, as well as research efforts
- Lidar and camera tracking calibration using systems like Motive, Captury, and OptiTrack
- Troubleshooting camera tracking equipment and software
- Ensuring high quality data is correctly captured, stored and meets standards for all other teams
- Real-Time troubleshooting and deployments during shoots, and rehearsals
- Onsite, daily collaborate with Stage Team; Virtual Production Supervisor(s), LED & Stages Technical Director, Systems Technical Director, Stage Operators
- Interfaces with the production departments (Camera, Wardrobe, HMU, Grips, Rigging) and volume operators (the team driving the real-time content)
- Ensure production, creative, and research team(s) can focus on filmmaking by ensuring camera tracking operations are met
- Quickly and effectively diagnose, address, and fix hardware that needs attention
- Execute end-of-day resets of camera tracking equipment on stages and volumes, ensuring stability and safety
- Meet with department heads across Studio, Creative, Applied Innovation, and LABS regularly.
- Diagnose and plan individual accommodations for production specific requests
- Communicate changes, and present best practices to the production teams (internally and externally)
- Test systems and stability routinely to ensure reliability standards are met
- Maintain, clean, organize an orderly workspace and the hardware in use
- Conduct thorough audits of systems and equipment
- Research and Develop with the Stage Team prototypes and evaluations of new equipment, and resources
- Maintain training documentation and knowledge transfer on a monthly basis to ensure continuity
- Conduct business reviews with key vendors regularly about upcoming updates or to discuss any issues encountered
- Work with direct reports and management on the strategy and budget
- Attending trade shows or conferences (such as NAB, SIGGRAPH, or SMPTE technical conferences) to stay on top of the latest tech
Qualifications- Advanced knowledge of motion and camera tracking softwares such as Motive, Captury, and OptiTrack
- Experience working in virtual production studios, including operating LED volumes and motion capture systems
- Strong technical skills and a proactive approach to exploring new workflows and providing technical support
- Eye for detail for maintaining high-quality capture and tracking data
- Collaborate effectively with a team and communicate concerns to the appropriate personnel within a live production environment
- Working in virtual production and live environments that may include large LED walls, motion capture stages, and other complex technical setups.
- Operating tracking systems for live events, broadcasts, or TV/Film
- Strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate across departments
- Ability to travel globally as needed
- Knowledge of real time rendering and Unreal Engine
- Must be able to execute technically difficult work and maintain a productive attitude under the pressure of a live action production environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Computer Science, or relevant area
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in Motion Capture projects, technology and VFX
- Skilled truss work, and operation of lifts and rigging equipment

This salary range is specific to applicants applying to our position in Los Angeles, California. To determine your base salary, we consider your qualifications, skills, and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary outside of this range and will also be dependent on your location.
