About the Role:
Role Overview
The Revenue Account Manager plays a key role in managing the financial integrity of project revenue. This position ensures accurate, compliant, and timely revenue recognition percentage-of-completion methodology (POC) using inputs such as timesheets, third-party direct costs. Working closely with Project Managers, Managing Directors and Operations, you’ll translate project activity into accurate financial results, ensuring that both creative and commercial teams have visibility into project performance.
This role is based full time in our Birmingham studio.
Key Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage the full revenue recognition process across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with accounting best practices and internal policies.
- Apply percentage-of-completion methodology to determine revenue based on time incurred and third-party direct costs, in line with project progress.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to review timesheets and supplier costs for accurate revenue accruals and forecasting.
- Maintain and reconcile Work in Progress (WIP), deferred revenue, and accrued income schedules.
- Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly revenue recognition reports, highlighting key movements, risks, and variances.
- Partner with the Group Finance Director and Commercial Finance to ensure that revenue reflects true project delivery and profitability, support financial planning and forecasting
- Identify and implement process enhancements for improved accuracy and efficiency in revenue recognition.
- Support system upgrades and integrations within ERP and project management tools (e.g., NetSuite, OpenAir or similar).
- Ensure strong documentation and audit trails for all revenue-related processes.
- Oversee inter-company revenue allocations for multi-studio projects.
Candidate Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualification preferred (or part-qualified).
- 4–7 years’ experience in accounting, with specific exposure to revenue or project accounting, ideally within a creative fabrication / production industry, creative, digital, or professional services environment, but not required.
- Strong working knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting and international accounting principles
- Experience interpreting timesheets, project data, and supplier costs to determine accurate revenue recognition.
Desirable
- PowerBI or similar tool proficiency
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite
- Experience providing financial/accounting support to creative teams
- Experience with systems implementations
Contract: Full time, permanent contract
