Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We are working on exciting projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan.

The Assistant to the Content Team provides essential administrative and creative support across the company’s animation and live-action slate, specifically assisting the Executive Director of Content in their day-to-day role, as well as supporting the activities of the senior content and marketing teams.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is passionate about animation, film, and television; highly organized; proactive; and eager to build hands-on experience in development, production, and executive support. The Assistant will collaborate closely with internal teams, external partners, producers, and creatives, while ensuring the Executive Director is fully supported, prepared, and equipped to drive the company’s creative vision.
About the role:
Creative & Content
- Help organise scripts, decks, pitches, creative notes, lookbooks and other development materials.
- Compile market research, reference materials, and support for internal and external presentations.
- Monitor and stay up to date on all projects across the company’s content slate, reviewing creative materials as needed to ensure the Executive Director is informed about progress and opportunities.
- Prepare basic creative briefs to ready the content team for meetings.
- Assist with preparing casting packs and writer briefs.
Calendar & Communications
- Manage the Executive Director’s calendar, scheduling reviews, meetings, and calls as needed.
- Monitor the Executive Director’s inbox, flagging priority items and preparing simple correspondence.
- Handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Assist in coordinating with creators, agents, studios, clients and stakeholders.
Development & Production Assistance
- Assist in monitoring project status across the development and production slate.
- Join meetings to take notes, highlight next steps, and support communication between teams.
- Assist with gathering materials for financing, casting, or marketing stages.
- Help maintain quarterly project updates for internal and board reporting.
- General project production assistance may be required from time to time.
Company Administrative Tasks
- Assist with organising and running of internal events and screenings.
- Work closely with EAs, Front of House and project coordinators to ensure smooth communication across departments.
- Help organise travel bookings, itineraries, and expenses for executives and other company travellers as required.
Festivals & Marketing
- Provide logistical support for industry festivals, screenings, and company events.
- Assist with marketing and website assets, press kits, and social or promotional materials.
- Help prepare submission packages for festivals, grants, and pitch markets.
