Job Description
The Maya TD works closely with the Pipeline department to develop tools and solutions to ensure VFX projects run smoothly and help artists in the assigned departments to find technical solutions to problems encountered.
Main responsibilities:
Support / Tickets
- Provide front-line support to artists on assets and shots.
- Troubleshoot issues and maintain production scripts/workflows.
- Perform QC on assets and address review notes.
Workflow Specialist
- Design and optimize asset workflows across departments.
- Align workflows with production needs and standards.
- Identify bottlenecks and drive pipeline consistency.
Tools Design & Implementation
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, reusable tools.
- Ensure robustness, maintainability, and pipeline integration.
- Document tools and train users.
Publisher Support
- Develop and maintain publishing tools for modeling/texturing.
- Validate assets against technical specs and data integrity requirements.
- Improve reliability of the publishing process.
Maya Mastery
- Develop and support tools in Autodesk Maya.
- Ensure cross-digital content creation interoperability within the pipeline.
- Adapt workflows to each environment.
Qualifications
Position requirements:
- 5 years of experience in a similar position, within the VFX or video-game industry;
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, computer visualization, computer animation or other related field, or equivalent work experience;
- Excellent knowledge of Python;
- Good knowledge of Maya;
- Good understanding of the Linux operating system;
- Knowledge of C++, an asset;
- Strong skills in debugging and development tests;
- Able to communicate solutions to issues clearly and concisely;
- A collaborative spirit
- Excellent sense of prioritization and respect for deadlines.
