We’re looking for a Rigging/Creature TD to join our team! If you like rigging monsters, or robots, or monsters with frickin’ robot arms, we’d like to speak to you! As part of the rigging team at ILP, you’ll work on a broad range of projects and assets, in close cooperation with artists and leads from other disciplines.
For this role, you will need to be comfortable with Python scripting and classes, Git, and working within a modular rigging framework. This is a permanent position, and candidates must be based in London, Stockholm, or Hamburg, or willing to relocate.
Your work will include:
- Working with our production team, leads, and supervisors to provide end-to-end rigging solutions
- Building and maintaining efficient rigs/motion systems for production
- Writing tools and scripts to facilitate the transfer of data throughout the pipeline
- Working independently and efficiently, with a good understanding of how assets will be used later in the pipeline
- Producing high-end deformations in Maya using a variety of techniques
- Contributing to ongoing development of our in-house rigging framework
You need the following:
- Experience building rigs in a procedural pipeline
- Python scripting, and object-oriented design in Python
- Solid understanding of Maya and industry-standard rigging practices
- Understanding of how to work in a Git environment
Useful additional skills:
- Experience in one or several of the following areas: muscle and fat simulation and rigging in Ziva Dynamics, cloth sim, grooming, shot sculpt (artistic and pipeline), modelling
- Experience with Maya Bifrost, USD
- Experience with Git and GitLab or equivalent
- UI authoring in PyQt
- Familiarity with OpenMaya and/or C++
- Good understanding of human and animal anatomy
- Houdini experience/familiarity
- Understanding of 3D math
- Reasonable understanding of all stages of a VFX pipeline and the willingness to actively engage and problem-solve with other groups
