We’re looking for a Compositing Supervisor to guide the creative and technical direction of our compositing department and deliver stunning final images for high-end visual effects work.
Based in Tokyo, you’ll be a key part of the studio’s leadership team – working closely with directors, production, and other department leads to ensure every shot meets the highest standards. We're after someone who brings clarity, energy, and deep experience to the table, and who genuinely enjoys mentoring others and collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Creative and Technical Oversight: Supervise all compositing work across sequences and shows, ensuring high-quality, cohesive results that align with the creative vision.
Visual Quality Leadership: Act as the primary creative and technical lead for the comp team, setting the standard for integration, colour balance, and photorealism.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with directors, producers, lighting, FX, and matte painting teams to ensure seamless final images that support the story.
Team Management: Guide and support compositing artists with clear direction, regular feedback, and mentorship on both a technical and creative level.
Talent Development: Foster a positive and collaborative environment, helping artists grow their skills and confidence through coaching, training, and thoughtful leadership.
Project Planning: Collaborate with production teams to estimate work, allocate resources, and build realistic schedules that balance quality with delivery goals.
Shot and Sequence Supervision: Provide hands-on oversight of key shots and sequences, helping solve creative and technical challenges as they arise.
Quality Control: Review and approve final shots, ensuring consistency, technical accuracy, and alignment with project expectations.
Efficiency and Workflow: Contribute to pipeline discussions and drive improvements to compositing tools and processes that increase team efficiency.
Hiring and Staffing: Participate in hiring decisions, onboarding new artists, and helping build a strong, diverse comp team that supports studio culture.
Communication and Alignment: Attend production and department meetings to ensure the comp team is aligned with show goals and wider studio priorities.
