The Surfacing/ Lookdev Supervisor is responsible for the artistic and technical quality of all textures / surfaces for the production. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing workflows, managing the Surfacing / Lookdev team, and training artists. In addition, you will collaborate with other Supervisors and Directors on the production to ensure that surfacing is passed across departments with efficiency while meeting the creative and scheduling requirements of the production.

Key Responsibilities - Create photorealistic textures, both hand-painted and from set photography to a level of detail necessary for hero CG assets
- Work in collaboration with artists and supervisors in modeling, shading, and lighting during the look development process
- Lead and mentor a team of artists and offer constructive and support feedback
- Create high-quality models and UVs for use in production; implement improvements and changes based on review feedback and client direction
- Design and implement high level conceptual to practical textures
- Mentor, train, and manage the Surfacing/ Lookdev team both in technical and creative capacities
- Lead the team to deliver the production needs on time and to the expected quality standards
- Oversee the daily activities leading the department, and establishing best practice workflows and guidelines for the team
- Proactively recommend ongoing pipeline improvements; Identifies potential issues and provide solutions, and escalate as needed
- Maintain a positive relationship with all stakeholder departments; attend meetings as needed
- Work within the defined pipeline
- Ensure continuity and support other asset departments such as model, generalist, and rigging
- Work closely with management to guide artists overall professional development by providing performance feedback, mentoring, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale within the team
- Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in visual effects for live-action feature films or television
- Previous leadership experience
- Hands-on experience using Mari essential, Photoshop, ZBrush, Mudbox a plus
- Working knowledge of Maya necessary, 3ds Max, V-Ray, Nuke a plus
- Clear understanding of color space, shading, lighting, and rendering methodologies
- Familiarity with digital photography
