Job Description
The Mid CFX Artist (Cloth) works closely with the CFX Supervisor and Leads to bring the Director’s vision to life. This role focuses on creating and simulating cloth and hair assets, ensuring high-quality results that meet the artistic and technical standards of the production. The position offers creative challenges and opportunities for growth on a high-end animated feature project.
Responsibilities
Production
Create and maintain cloth and hair assets.
Simulate cloth and hair using Maya’s nCloth and nHair tools.
Use Yeti for additional hair simulations when required.
Work with proprietary cloth and hair simulation technologies.
Prepare presentation elements for reviews in ShotGrid.
Address feedback from the CFX Supervisor or Leads quickly and accurately.
Ensure simulations meet artistic direction and quality standards.
Collaboration
Communicate effectively with team members, Leads, and the production coordinator.
Participate in reviews and discussions to advance work efficiently.
Contribute to maintaining a positive and collaborative team dynamic.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Maya.
Proficiency with nCloth and nHair simulation tools.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and solve problems efficiently.
Team-oriented, adaptable, and proactive in suggesting improvements.
Previous experience on animated feature films, animated TV series, or VFX feature films.
Optional Skills
Knowledge of Yeti for hair simulations.
Basic understanding of rigging workflows.
Familiarity with Python scripting.
Experience with Houdini or other simulation solvers.
Additional Information
The person in this role will work closely with our Paris studio in a bilingual environment, as well as with international partners, talent, and clients. They will regularly interact with non-French-speaking stakeholders across various productions and strategic communications, in order to present and promote the creative and technical strengths of Mikros Animation on a global scale.
