A Lead Lighting Technical Director at DNEG is a highly skilled individual with deep expertise in 3D computer graphics, responsible for owning and lighting CG sequences from concept to final output. This role demands not only strong technical skills for setting up complex sequences but also the ability to lead teams and drive projects to successful completion. With experience in shot finishing for episodic shows or feature films, you will have a sharp eye for detail and visual quality. You’ll also bring a solid understanding of art, design, and film lighting, along with technical proficiency in ray tracing or path tracing rendering techniques.
At DNEG, collaboration and mentorship are key values, so a passion for guiding and developing other artists within your team is essential. Along with the Lighting Supervisor, you will oversee the Lighting production process, ensuring shots are finalized on schedule, while troubleshooting issues such as noise, render times, and memory usage within modern path-tracing renderers.
In this role, you'll work closely with the team to interpret creative direction, establish the mood and look for VFX sequences. Additionally, you will build stable, efficient lighting rigs and compositing templates that allow for quick iterations. Using modern lighting and compositing tools, you'll ensure consistency across all shots while producing visually stunning work.
