Job Description
The Mid DMP Artist independently produces high-quality matte paintings and background extensions that enhance storytelling and maintain visual continuity. They collaborate closely with other departments to ensure seamless integration of their work into the final shots.
Responsibilities
Production
Create complex matte paintings for backgrounds, set extensions, and environments.
Use 3D projection techniques and perform accurate camera matching.
Assist in integrating matte paintings into 3D scenes.
Maintain organized files and caches for reusability.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to projections or compositing.
Implement feedback efficiently and accurately.
Collaboration
Work closely with compositing, lighting, and environment teams.
Participate in reviews and provide constructive feedback to junior artists.
Share workflows and best practices with junior team members when appropriate.
Qualifications
Proficiency in Photoshop and Nuke (or equivalent compositing software).
Strong understanding of lighting, composition, color, and atmospheric perspective.
Experience with camera projections and working in 3D environments.
Clear communication and strong team spirit.
Basic English communication skills.
Ability to deliver consistently high-quality work under deadlines.
Optional Skills
Experience with 3D software (Maya, Blender, etc.) for camera projections.
Familiarity with texture projection techniques.
Knowledge of pipeline tools such as ShotGrid.
Good understanding of photographic principles.
Additional Information
The person in this role will work closely with our Paris studio in a bilingual environment, as well as with international partners, talent, and clients. They will regularly interact with non-French-speaking stakeholders across various productions and strategic communications, in order to present and promote the creative and technical strengths of Mikros Animation on a global scale.
