About the Role:
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to support our growing Finance function. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take full ownership of the management accounts process, deliver accurate and insightful financial reporting, and provide critical support to leadership teams.
This is a senior, hands-on position suited to someone with strong analytical capability, exceptional organisational skills, and experience operating in dynamic, fast-paced, project-based businesses.
Key Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Month-End & Year-End
- Lead and own the month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Prepare monthly consolidated management accounts, including:
- Produce monthly commentary for leadership teams.
- Complete all balance sheet reconciliations (intercompany, revaluations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, Accrued and deferred income, wip, etc.).
- Prepare and file VAT returns and other statutory submissions.
Cost Control & Business Partnering
- Maintain accurate financial records in Xero with the view of transitioning into Netsuite.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis against budgets and prior periods.
- Identify efficiency improvements and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Support audits with timely schedules and analysis.
Other Responsibilities
- Liaise with HMRC and external advisors.
- Line manager teams members as required.
- Support the implementation and optimisation of Netsuite (experience is a nice to have).
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Complete and file Office of National Statistics Surveys.
- Perform ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting.
Candidate Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
- 5+ years' relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Experience in a project-based business (essential).
- Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel/Google Sheets capability.
- Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Proactive self-starter who is highly organised.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suite.
- Netsuite experience is nice to have but not essential.
Desirable
- ERP implementation experience (particularly Netsuite).
- Experience in VFX, Film, TV, gaming, animation or other creative/project-led industries.
Contract: Full time, permanent contract
