Zynga is seeking a Senior Art Generalist with a strong passion for games, exceptional art skills, and an impressive portfolio to join our talented FarmVille team. If you’re a creative generalist who has always dreamed of working in the gaming industry, we’d love to hear from you.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Art Director to shape, uphold, and elevate the visual identity, brand standards, and overall artistic consistency across all game visuals.
What You Will Do:
- Partner with the Art Director to create visuals that are both functional and visually compelling, grounded in strong art and design principles.
- Conceptualize ideas based on briefs, develop rough drafts, and present visual directions when needed.
- Bring fresh ideas proactively, analyze design challenges, and propose multiple creative solutions where required.
- Maintain high-quality output, consistency, and efficiency across all deliverables.
- Actively contribute to Zynga’s collaborative, learning-oriented, and creativity-driven culture.
What You Bring:
- 6–10 years of professional experience in art, design, or game production.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating solid understanding of art fundamentals.
- Ability to produce quick sketches and whiteboard ideas to communicate concepts.
- Experience creating line-art concepts and coloured illustrations.
- Ability to produce textures and sprites for shader and VFX use in-engine.
- Strong capability to match and work within the game’s established art style.
- Basic understanding of UI principles.
- Production 3D:
- 3D modeling skills—both hard-surface and organic—with the ability to create high-res and optimized meshes for games.
- 3D texturing experience using proprietary tools, with solid knowledge of texturing fundamentals and basic shader understanding.
- Familiarity with game engines, ideally having worked with them in production (Unity preferred).
- Basic experience integrating assets into a game engine.
- Foundational understanding of in-engine VFX creation.
- 2D Tools - Photoshop (preferred), After Effects
- 3D Modeling Tools - Blender or Maya (preferred), ZBrush (bonus), 3ds Max (acceptable alternate to Blender/Maya)
- 3D Texturing Tools - Substance Painter, Mudbox (bonus), Substance Designer (bonus)
- Game Engines: Unity (preferred), Unreal Engine (bonus)
- Ad-hoc Requirements
- Ability to understand basic game logic to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams during feature development.
- Strong creative problem-solving skills.
- Technically sound, adaptable, and able to work within evolving workflows.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with different functions.
