Job Description
Under the supervision of the Character Supervisor and Groom Lead/Supervisor, the Groom artist provides a hair description of production Assets. The production of these hair descriptions is done in accordance with the internal technical workflow and the artistic vision established on the project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Groom Artist will be required to groom, setup and (depending on the production's needs) shade the hair of assets based on concept art and model sheets provided. Under the supervision of the Groom Lead/Supervisor and the Character Supervisor, they have the following missions:
- Create Hair effects on 3D animated characters, animals and props by referring to the artistic direction of the project
- Make sure the delivered assets are technically compliant with the production pipeline and workflow
- Be involved in the development of tools used in the department
- Solve problems creatively
- Collaborate with modeling, rigging and surfacing in order to meet the technical requirements of each department
- Meet the deadlines, timing and production quotas provided by the production coordinator
- Execute the corrections requested by the Supervisor and the Director
- Organize the workload and prepare presentations elements for approval
- Communicate and seek information when necessary
- Maintain a good team dynamic
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Blender
- Proficiency in Geometry Nodes
- Experience with Geometry Nodes, Particle System Grooming / Surfacing / Shading
- Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment
Optional Skills:
- Skills in Modeling / Rigging
- Experience with Python
