Junior User Researcher
Dambuster Studios - creators of the number one BAFTA-nominated smash hit Dead Island 2 - has an exciting opportunity for a Junior User Researcher to join our highly talented GamesLab team.
This is an exciting opportunity to enter the games industry, work across multiple unreleased and unannounced titles and genres, and learn from seasoned experts in a dedicated lab environment.
Please note:
- We can only offer this role on a fully studio-based or hybrid basis. If hybrid, you must live within 50 miles of our studio or be willing to relocate to within 50 miles and be able to come into the studio three days per week as a minimum.
- You will be required to be on site for the set-up and running of play tests.
Role overview
We’re looking for someone curious, perceptive, and with a passion for gaming. Working closely with our Senior User Researchers and Data Science team, you will play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and analysis of play tests across many titles. To be successful in this role, you’ll have an interest in participating in and facilitating research.

Responsibilities
- Support the design, planning, and delivery of qualitative and quantitative research during play tests, including moderating tests, observing users, analysing findings, and preparing reports.
- Own the technical set-up and smooth running of research sessions, as well as proactive maintenance of the lab space and equipment.
- Support the development and maintenance of our recruitment database.
- Develop strong research competencies through working with and learning from teammates.
- Stay updated on industry-wide research topics and methods and effectively communicate your findings to the team.
- Act as a representative of the lab and a research champion to maintain positive relationships with internal and external teams.
Requirements
- A passion for Video Games and the gaming industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish credibility, and adapt communication across cultures.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Curiosity, creativity, and enjoyment of solving complex issues.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel and PowerPoint).
- Experience with survey design, user research, and user research theory and methodology (desirable)
- Data analysis and visualisation experience (desirable)
- Experience with PC gaming, video streaming and/ or editing (desirable)
