Job Description
The Senior DMP Artist is a key artistic contributor responsible for creating complex and high-visibility matte paintings. They help define the visual tone of sequences, mentor junior artists, and ensure technical and artistic excellence across shots.
Responsibilities
Production
Create high-end matte paintings and environment composites for hero shots.
Combine 2D, 3D, and photographic elements to build realistic or stylized environments.
Work with camera projections and 3D scenes to achieve parallax and depth.
Collaborate with environment, lighting, and compositing teams for seamless integration.
Suggest workflow improvements and contribute to the development of reusable assets.
Maintain organized files and caches for reusability.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to projections or compositing.
Implement feedback efficiently and accurately.
Collaboration
Mentor mid-level and junior artists; provide guidance and technical support.
Assist leads and supervisors during look development phases.
Participate in team reviews and artistic discussions.
Collaborate closely with compositing, lighting, and environment departments.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Photoshop and Nuke (or equivalent compositing software).
Solid understanding of lighting, composition, color, and atmospheric perspective.
Experience with camera projections and working in 3D environments.
Clear communication and strong team spirit.
Basic English communication skills.
Ability to deliver consistently high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Problem-solving mindset and autonomy.
Optional Skills
Experience with 3D software (Maya, Blender, etc.) for camera projections.
Familiarity with texture projection techniques.
Knowledge of pipeline tools such as ShotGrid.
Good understanding of photographic principles.
Basic Python scripting for tools or workflow optimization.
Additional Information
The person in this role will work closely with our Paris studio in a bilingual environment, as well as with international partners, talent, and clients. They will regularly interact with non-French-speaking stakeholders across various productions and strategic communications, in order to present and promote the creative and technical strengths of Mikros Animation on a global scale.
